Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run…..

June 2005

WHR Ballarat 2005Every year the Sri Chinmoy Centre stages the World Harmony Run, a global torch relay through 80 nations across the planet. The aim of the Run is to foster friendship and understanding at a grassroots level with people and communities right across the globe. The runners carry a flaming torch and pass it from hand to hand heart to heart to everyone they meet building a bridge of oneness across the globe.  As a participant on the Run the experience is a real blast. We visit schools along the route where the kids proudly tell us their hope and dreams for a better world. Sometime the children choose to express their feelings in song, some in poetry and others simply by running as fast as they can holding the torch aloft. But importantly everyone takes a moment to hold the torch, reflect, pray and wish for a harmonious world. WHR CanberraIn 2005 I had the joy of spending 2 weeks on the road as we journeyed from Melbourne to Canberra. What could be more fun than running in the countryside, with great people, breathing in the fresh air and then meeting so many great inspired people, who in their own way are striving to make their own corner of the world better for everyone. I am so grateful to Sri Chinmoy who came up with this prayerful and joyful way of bringing the world closer together, one heart at a time.
